Media artist Anders Dahl (with releases on Komplott and Underhund) and percussion improviser Henrik Olsson (of Sheriff -Häpna- and Gul 3) create out of sober means (no mystery here: just see the track titles) a sound-world richly evocative of a buddhist temple ritual for the digital age - or, leading us even further abroad, into as yet unmarked and apocryphal ethnological territories as non-descript as the environmental sounds which constitute the backdrop to these elusive goings-on. Or is...

Reche is currently one of the best argentinian avant-garde sound artists. He has played live in many countries and events (Sónar festival 2000, etc) and his music has been released on labels all around the world. His work has been defined as a good example of noise, isolationism and post-industrial sound. Close to white noise, Reche builds structurated ambiences whole of distorted sounds, filtered textures and manipulated stuff taken from field recordings, cd's and vinyls. Pablo Reche works...

This is a recording of ships on the North Sea, off the coast of Aberdeen Scotland. At midnight, New Year's Eve (known as Hogmanay in Scotland) the ships blow their horns to signal the new year (2005 in this case). Each horn is a different pitch and each ship is a different distance and location from the shore, where this was recorded. For more information: www.billthompson.org

Various field recordings of the fascinating, and very loud (~140db) sounds made by the 17-year Periodical Cicadas (Magicicada Septendecim) that emerged near Shepherdstown, West Virginia during the summer months of 2004. Truly amazing creatures. This particular brood (Brood X) will not re-emerge until 2021. http://www.raintheory.com raintheory@hotmail.com

Cindy Sheehan (mother of a soldier slain in Iraq), Jim Massey (ex-Marine recruiter) and others reveal the true impact of No Child Left Behind's military recruitment in our high schools. With no end in sight to the increasingly lethal American occupation in Iraq, this is the single-most important film for concerned parents and citizens to see. Watch the 11-minute film and then take action to "opt our kids out" at LeaveMyChildAlone.org. Created by Mainstreet Moms and Working Assets

How do we identify this laziness and how can we replace it with a deep joy in practice? Ven. Rita leads us in exploration, discussion and meditation on this troublemaker, and gain some simple skills to use at home.
